Increasing Mileage - C210K program

I completed C25K a little over a month ago, and I've been running roughly 3 miles every other day since then. I generally run for 30 minutes at a time, with a pace hovering between 9:30 - 10:00 min / mile. I want to increase my mileage, so I downloaded a C210K program onto my phone. This program has me starting with doing four intervals of 10 minutes running with 1 minute walking. From what I've read on here, you shouldn't increase mileage by more than 10% each week, but this program would have me going up to a total of 40 minutes running, when the most I've done so far is 33 minutes. Would the safest plan be to increase my mileage by 10% a week until I get to 40 minutes and then start the C210k program? I don't want to injure myself by trying to ramp up too quickly.

The nature of percentages is that they have a greater effect the further the distance. For what you hope to do there isnt much risk involved. If you can run for 30 mins, I'd bet my house you could run for 40 mins. Give it a go, you could surprise yourself, and anyway, theres no harm if you stop. But seeing as you'll be taking breaks as part of the interval training, I bet it will be easy for you.
