Ok so my bmi says I'm morbidly obese, and my body fat % says I'm average.. almost in the "athlete" section.. surely something is wrong here... I know for a fact they are both being done right, so what's up here? Someone please explain!

BMI: 45.6
BF %: 25

UPDATE: I recalculated it myself from 2 different websites, and got 45%.. MUCH better! I also called my doctors office, and they said that it has to be a mistake, and the next time i come in (xmas eve) they will recalculate it. I know I have tons of work to do, that is why I'm here! I will have to post a picture when I'm really at 25% and compare it to when I THOUGHT i was at 25%! That will be fun.. lol! Thank you so much for everyone who helped!

Whatever method you're using to calculate bf% is wrong.

Think your doctor is bat poop insane.

No offense, but it is VERY unlikely you have only 25% BF given that BMI...

Try calculating your BMI on here under tools.

Also check your body fat % using the military body fat calculator here:

Good question - not sure your numbers are right.... My BMI is 27, so overweight....My Body fat is according to a DXA scan 42%, according to military calculators 28% and according to the calliper test 26% and another measurement bodyfat calculator also 26...
What is your height and weight? Not sure if your profile pic is current, but if it is I seriously doubt that your body fat is 25%....

Oh, and I look more or less like the middle one - upper body and waist smaller and lowe body a little bigger...So the DXA was a shock, and 25% for you probably wrong..... Smallest version on my profile pic stil the same, just a little more defined muscle...

I just had a Dexa scan last week and the results were 29%. I thought that sounded high for me, because I think Iook better than the 25 & 30 pic Rock posted, but you are welcome to look at my pics and compare for reference..

Ok ok so its wrong, geez. I obviously do not look like that middle girl. I'm not stupid, its why I asked the question.. I knew something wasn't right. I don't know how she got it, she measured a few spots and then did some calculations and told me what it was.
Thank you to the people who gave information. I will talk to her the next time I go. (It was a pa, not the actual Dr.. maybe her information was messed up)

I'm with everyone else. The 25% number doesn't seem to be correct.

Also, the number is irrelevant. If you're happy with how you look in the mirror, don't worry about the number. If you aren't happy with how you look, stay in a calorie deficit and keep working out. Doesn't matter if the number says 8% or 48% if you're not satisfied

Chill. Nobody said you were stupid. The pic was posted to illustrate a point, and to clarify things.

I'm 5'4" 127lb and I have a BF of approximately 25%. If that's accurate, sincere props!! But I know when I was at 170, my BF% was much higher than that, and I had very little muscle. But way to go in trying to find out your BF%--it is, of course, a MUCH better indicator of fitness than the scale. :)

Easy enough to calculate your own. He might be using an "index" for the BF% instead of actual percentage.

Sounds like a caliper test, those are highly subject to user error.

Also, listen to what DavPul said

Ask your doctor to recalculate. He/she made a mistake.

If you are 200-210, no way you are 25% BF....that is a calculation error.

I also completely agree that its wrong. I'm working really hard, so one day I will be at 25%.. today is obviously not the day!

no one called names, they were letting you know which of the two numbers were wrong by using the same graphic everyone uses.

No one said you were but you stated emphatically':
I know for a fact they are both being done right, so what's up here?

Whereas perhaps the better way to have phrased it would have been along the lines of one or the other may be right but not both......

I have a 20 BMI and my BF is 23%, I'm pretty sure the number is wrong. But if it isn't, you seriously have some muscle on you! Good for you!

I wasn't saying anyone was calling names, I was just stating a fact. My feelings weren't hurt or I wasn't getting sensitive. As for me saying I know for a fact they were both right.. I didn't think that my doctor would be wrong, so i thought at the time that they both were right. I now know I am clearly wrong.. which is why I posted this to begin with.. because I knew something wasn't right. I have never dealt with bf% before so I didn't know what was normal and what wasn't.
