depends where you live in the world
if in temperate climate most fruits will last fine for a week, apples for instance, coconuts last forever, peaches a few days, blackberries a day or so
Generally the harder / firmer the fruit the longer it will keep
Some fruit, like pineapple, bananas improve with age so often are a good buy even if past the sell by date0 -
Apples seem to keep the longest, pears are good but make sure you eat them as soon as they get a little soft. Bananas give you great signs of where they are at in the ripening status. Most in the store are a little green but ripen quickly. If they get too brown we cut up in chunks and freeze them for future smoothies or it goes towards banana bread or muffins. I eat grapefruit often but there are some medications that conflict with it so watch for that. My wife is an expert at picking pineapple and determining when they are ripe and good eating. I also love fresh grapes and cherries but they can get expensive at times.0

I'd say it depends on how you like your fruit too. I'm kind of picky about bananas so I only buy 2-3 at a time and go back to the grocery store for a restock a couple times a week. Apples and oranges will last a week or two in the fridge. Berries don't seem to last much more than a week but it does depend on how fresh they are. If you're a fan of berries but worried they'll spoil too quickly, buy the frozen kind with no added sugar. I don't buy a lot of melons but they seem to last 3-5 days after being cut up as long as you put a bit of water in the dish you keep them in.0

Apples are your best bet to last weeks. Oranges keep good, grapes last in the fridge and I freeze berries. I buy bananas eat the first few as is and then smash the others in recipes.0
