CHEW ON THIS:
Hey, the third week in March is American CHOCOLATE Week! Stock up and celebrate with HG's newest chocolate finds. Weeeeee!
************************************************
Little Debbie 100 Calories Snow Puffs

PER SERVING (1 Puff): 100 calories, 2g fat, 55mg sodium, 20 carbs, <1g fiber, 11g sugars, 1g protein -- POINTS® value 2*

It's hit or miss with our small, hat-sporting friend Little Debbie. She failed miserably with her microscopic 100-calorie brownies, but we are SO digging these 100-calorie Snow Puffs. For those of you not familiar with the wonderful world of Snow Puffs, each of these treats consists of a soft, fudgy chocolate cookie topped with a giant marshmallow that's covered with coconut flakes. They're AWESOME and make us giddy. Don't get us wrong -- we're not suggesting that they're nutritious in any way. But they taste AMAZINGLY good -- fudgy, squishy, coconuty, and just all around DELICIOUS. And they're SO much fun! We're not saying you should eat these puffy li'l snack sensations daily, but every once in a while it might be worth it to enjoy one of these calorie-friendly Snow Puffs -- live a little, people!
********************************************************
Trader Joe's 100 Calorie Milk Chocolate Bars, Smooth and Creamy Belgian Chocolate

PER SERVING (1 bar): 100 calories, 6g fat, 15mg sodium, 10g carbs, 0g fiber, 10g sugars, 1g protein -- POINTS® value 3*

TJ's has introduced yet another 100-calorie snacking option to the world -- pure chocolate! And these bars are all about portion control. There's nothing remotely diety about the super-creamy, fantastic Belgian chocolate. It's simply that the bars are individually wrapped and contain 100 calories' worth of chocolate. Plain and simple. And they're a pretty decent size (although the bars are skinny, they're an impressive 5 inches long and 1 inch wide -- not that we measured them or anything). And as a cute little touch, the words "Trader Joe's" are etched into each bar. Awwwwwww! For a true chocolate fix, these REALLY hit the spot! BTW, there's also a dark chocolate version of these bars -- those each have 8g fat but also a gram of fiber (POINTS® value 2*).

Dreyer's/Edy's American Idol Cookies 'n Dreamz Slow Churned Light Ice Cream

PER SERVING (1/2 cup): 120 calories, 4g fat, 65mg sodium, 19g carbs, 1g fiber, 13g sugars, 3g protein -- POINTS® value 3*

Okay, we are definitely HUGE fans of traditional cookies & cream ice cream. We LOVE vanilla ice cream and, well, who doesn't like creme-stuffed chocolate cookie sandwiches? But we were originally skeptical about this new cookies & cream flavor made with chocolate ice cream -- we thought it would be too, TOO chocolate-centric. But we were WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! The ice cream itself has a smooth and creamy texture with a sweet milk chocolate flavor, and there's a nice amount of cookie bits scattered throughout (it's not as crazy-cookie-packed as the one in the company's "Loaded" line, but it's close enough!). The only problem with this ice cream is that it is NOT portion-controlled in any way, and if you're not careful, you could EASILY down two or three servings in one sitting without realizing it. So after purchasing this ice cream, there are three rules you should follow: 1. NEVER approach the container with just a spoon (you NEED a single-serving dish so you can scoop out a reasonable amount), 2. Don't go back for seconds (okay, try REALLY hard not to!), and 3. Make sure you follow the first two rules!!!

CocoaVia Cocoa Flavanol Beverage Mix, Artificially Sweetened Milk Chocolate Flavored

PER SERVING (1 packet): 20 calories, 0g fat, 55mg sodium, 5g carbs, 1g fiber, 0g sugars, 1g protein -- POINTS® value 0*

It's been a while since we raved about any of the CocoaVia products, but that's about to change right now. We LOOOOVE the new chocolate drink mixes in their "Circulation" line. The cocoa-obsessed company makes several kinds -- dark chocolate, milk chocolate... some sweetened, one unsweetened -- but all are pretty darn chocolatey and yummy! Our favorite of all is the Artificially Sweetened Milk Chocolate Flavored Mix. (Heads up -- the Naturally Sweetened Milk Chocolate one has 60 calories.) It's packed with cocoa flavanols, which are supposed to be good for your heart and your circulation. But that's not why we drink this stuff... we drink it because it's CHOCOLATE-TASTIC, it makes our Unsweetened Almond Breeze taste INCREDIBLE, and it has just 20 calories per packet! Mix it with 8 ounces of your favorite guilt-free milk or milk swap, or even try adding it to your coffee (for a tasty mocha). Go CocoaVia!!!
