Working out at Work

I was wondering if anyone has some good exercises to do at work? I used to work in the very back of my office almost by myself. I could get up and do some mountain climbers, lunges, squats or whatever throughout the day. I now sit up in the front office with windows to the lobby. I greet guests and co-workers alike when then enter our suite. I need some good exercises to do at my desk without looking like a lunatic. While exercising is great and I encourage others to do it - I still have to be/look professional at work. I do all the easier stuff - always take the stairs, walk across the office to ask a question instead of sending an email; you know - the little things that add up.
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks! :drinker:

I just try to get up and walk about as much as possible. Also try and go out for a walk every lunchtime. The rest of the time I'm pretty busy so just try and get my work done so I can head home and hit the gym.0

I don't know what your desk at work is like, but if it would work, there are mini exercise bikes you can buy that fit under the desk and you pedal on them in your chair. I don't have one, but it was suggested to me by a friend here. I googled it, and it seems they run $40-50. Just my two cents.0

you could do Jillian's 30 day shred at home, it's only 20 minutes, you could do it in the morning before going to work and if you don't like her, there are plenty more out there that are 20 to 30 minutes.0

I would also suggest getting a small weight or two, doesn't have to be much 10 - 20lbs and that way you can do curls in your chair, if you have enough room you could also do arm raises, or even military press... You don't have to work out into a sweat or anything but doing 20 reps of something every hour or two will make a big difference.
If you don't want weights you could always get resistance bands, although they are a little harder to use in your chair.0 -

I didn't even know they made those! I am very excited!!! I will definitely be googling that! Sounds like a price I could afford. Thanks for the tip! :flowerforyou:0 -

I don't do anything at my desk just stretch but I always walk to the bathroom and do some squats.0

Before you buy the under the desk bike, make sure your desk is tall enough to be able to do it. I have one and can't do it at work cause my knees hit the underside of my desk. So now it collects dust.. I just started going down to our kitchen 4 times a day and doing 25 jumping jacks and then some lunges if I have time to escape. I stretch everytime I use the restroom too.0

I also work the front office for part of the day and then in my actual office i share w/ 2 other co--workers. On my breaks I am trying to speed walk from the basement level to the last floor in the building ( 6 floors) and do squats in between. Then return to my desk. Better than nothing! I also have done jumping jacks in the private restroom we have in the office lol0 -
I'm confined to a glass booth highly visible to coworkers and the public so I know how you feel. I do the following
Use a squeezer to increase my grip/forearm strength while at my desk.
Do seated calf raises with a heavy bag/briefcase/folder/etc on your lap
Every time I go to the loo 10 split squats each leg with foot propped on the closed toilet seat (this adds up for heavy water drinkers)
If the bathroom is empty do triceps dips against the sink if it's low enough
Use the sink for incline push ups
Anytime- randomly tense your abs, glutes etc for as long as you can0 -
Thank you all so much! What great ideas!!!!0
