Recipe calculator

I'm new using the recipe calculator and I'm kinda of confused about how to add meats to a recipe. First of all I have 3 children so its easier to cook casseroles then 2 seperate meals everynight, so say I'm cooking a casserole and it calls for hamburger meat, I'm not for sure how to enter this, I usually buy the 97% lean beef and when I find that it says 2 oz or 4 oz so do I just see how much meat is in the package and enter that or what, also say I'm adding like a can of beans and it says 1/2 cup well the whole can is more then a 1/2 a cup so do I enter this twice? I know I'm making this more confusing then it is. I'm just trying to get it as accurate as possible so I know how much I can have, I'm getting tired of salads and having 2 small children its hard to have grilled or baked chicken alot I need foods easy for them to eat.

Just enter the weight of what you're actually using.

I think I understand what you are asking.

Meat: Say your package is 16oz - you can either a) use the 2 or 4 oz option and enter the # of servings (so if you pick 4oz - enter it as 4 servings in the recipe builder) OR if you click the serving option there is usually a way to change it to 1 oz - in which case you'd add 16 servings.

Beans - canned - again there will usually be an option for the serving or the whole can. If you're using the whole can select the whole can option or enter the # of servings that you're using.

Ok thanks I have been entering can (beans) twice if it shows 1/2 cup but I wasn't for sure on the meat.
