The last thing I wanted to do was set goals I couldn't reach or wouldn't have to strive for. I need to up my weight loss mini goals as a challenge to myself and really focus on some goals I have already set (drinking more water, at least 20 minutes of exercise per day). Just set realistic goals for yourself. Having success will fuel you and keep you going when things get tough. Just make sure they aren't too easy to meet but are challenging enough that you have to work at it and really think about how you are going to change your life. Hope that helps! Whatever goals you set, you can do it! We believe in you!0

Mini goals are definitely a good idea. Also I think it would help to find different posts on here that have a new challenge every week. Or you can set up those challenges for yourself each week. Maybe one week you can say each day you're going to limit the sugar to so many grams a day, or plan on doing exercise for a certain length of time 5 times that week. Set small challenges and goals each week. Then you will feel great just for accomplishing them you won't care how much weight came off the scale, well of course you will care, but if there is a week you get stuck it won't matter so much0

When I started out I had 100 pounds I wanted to lose. That seemed sooooo dautning to me so I decided to break it up into 20 pound goals. That was much easier for me to focus on. Especially when I was having a day when I was frustrated - instead of thinking I have 70 pounds to go I would tell myself only ten pounds to my goal.
I also planned rewards for each goal. The first reward after losing my first twenty pounds was getting to have a Quarter Pounder with Cheese and Fries from McDonald's. The last three pounds of that goal went fast because I exercised my backside off the last week trying to get to the twenty pound mini goal.
Another thing that I did was I went into this whole thing with the mindset that I am not dieting.....I am creating a lifestyle change. Dieting implied to me that when I had reached my goal I could go back to all of my bad habits - I needed to do something that would be permanant.
All that said.....I am not perfect and I do have days where I don't do so well. But I try really hard not to beat myself up over it and just move on and keep plugging away.0 -
Thanks for the input. I am going to come up with a list of non food rewards and then set my goals.0
