My husband is taking me out to dinner for Valentine's Day, cause all I asked for is a nice calorie packed dinner. I've been so good for 8 weeks on a 1200 calorie diet that all I'm asking for is ONE splurge meal for Valentine's Day.
My question is should I starve all day to be able to take in all those calories for dinner OR should I eat small healthy snacks all day long to keep my metabolism burning? If I choose to eat snacks all day, I think it would add up to about 800 calories, which will definately put me over my calorie count for the day once I eat that big, fun, splurge meal???
Starve or snack?

I would eat as per normal for the rest of the day - i dont think a splurge once ina while would be that bad in but maintaining the routine of eating healthy is more important for me. and if you go to dinner really hungry your prob going to eat more of the bad treats than if you went there feeling comfortable and just enjoyed a few treats0

Snack and EXERCISE if you can get a good walk in you might get 700 calories from exercise, when I walk 1 1/2 hours i have between 600-700 calories burned0

I would snack on some zero to low calorie stuff and get in a good bit of exercise so that the splurge doesn't affect you as much. However, one good splurge meal should ruin your efforts. As long as you get back to it the next day. )0

i would eat normal but try to double your regular work out that should compensate the extra calories0

I wouldn't worry about one day...you should enjoy a nice dinner with your husband and then from Monday get back to it !0

I second that! I have a splurge meal every couple of weeks and it hasn't affected my weightloss at all.0 -
Thanks everyone for all your advise. Having 5 kids at home and never getting to go out with my hubby, it's nice to know that I can go out and have a nice dinner without the worries of ruining my diet. I will work out a little extra these next few days to make up for the extra calories that I'm going to take in tonight. And I will eat my normal diet throughout this day! :drinker:0

I third that! Splurge, but make good choices. Want dessert? Skip the bread and so on. Have fun!0
