Weights/strength training/whatever you want to call it

I was skeptical of weight lifting/strength training up until recently. I mean, I would do it - light stuff, enough to build some muscle up and be able to see it. It started getting colder where I live and running outside has gotten far more difficult with that (I have never lived anywhere this "cold" - which I know, is warm to some of you!) so I didn't feel running was doing enough. That and I am down to a weight that I feel I NEED to do more strength training than cardio.

So I did. I go to my apartment community gym and I do as much with the weights as I can now, starting off with running a mile for a warmup on the treadmill (that's all I can stand before I get impatient with running indoors)

I started getting more into it about a week and a half ago. Ran in to a classmate before class yesterday and she exclaimed immediately, "Kelly! You've gotten skinnier!" I told her I didn't know how, I was eating *more* and only changed to more weights than cardio. Eating more protein too.

And she said, "Whatever it is, it's working. You look amazing". I mean, just over a week of it and there's a difference already? I'm shocked. I still love me some running, but I am much less doubtful of weight lifting now and its benefits! My arms are looking fabulous, my stomach is shrinking more and hello, my booty is great.

So do it - lift weights! Don't be afraid of heavy stuff, sweating, and grunting, and just doing it!
