I have been doing planks but started to get a massive pinch in my shoulders (have a torn rotator cuff). Pinch worst in between shoulder blades. Any idea how to fix? Form is said to be right by trainer.

Was doing 30 long secs now can barely hold 10.

If it hurts like that, then don't do planks. Have an orthopedist check you out.

Body is giving you a signal it doesn't like it! Probably best to listen....

Are these planks push up style, or on your elbows? Perhaps if one, try the other? Are you sure that your arms are below your shoulders? And how, exactly are you engaging your shoulder blades? Also, it might be as simple as an overuse injury.... back off them for a while (a few days to a week) and then try one again and see how it feels.

Sometimes people think they're doing it right, but looking in a mirror/videoing it can solve that. I realise your trainer said your form was good, but what if s/he's wrong?
