Numb feet and sore knees?

Since I was about 4 I have suffered with sore knees and when i was quite young I was told I have arthritis. I have never taken anything for this and it generally only becomes a 'serious' problem in winter when i feel like my bones just ACHE and I tend to take 4-5 hot showers to try and ease it.
I also suspect I have poor circulation in my feet perhaps? My feet always seem to get cold and people think I am weird but putting socks on or something makes it worse. Never been diagnosed or anything, it just kind of sounded like I might have poor circulation.
That being said I have been doing Zumba for the past few weeks and I have been loving it. It gets my heart rate up and I burn more in less time than i would have thought and the time seems to go by quicker, I really enjoy it as a form of Cardio.
I was doing is barefoot in my loungeroom and then because some of the moves involved rapid turns that my bare feet didn't allow as well I switched to some ballet style flat shoes. However then i found that in certain moves which required me to have my legs a certain width apart I would be constantly readjusting because the shoes had no tread and my legs would slip. So I decided to do the Zuma in my joggers (gym shoes, trainers, whatever you call them).
Not longer after I put them on my feet feel much more numb and tingly and then after i did my Zumba session ( a few hours after) I found that my knees hurt TERRIBLY and they did for a while, I had to miss the next two days of exercise.
I am wondering if my shoes can be a problem? They were fitted for me at a place called Athletes Foot but I have always found them to cut off my circulation even though I am sure to make sure the laces are not too tight and there is some special sole insert there that is supposed to support my feet (and cost extra of course). I paid more than i normally would for shoes because I considered them an investment . . .but now I am suspicious of them.
Is it possible for shoes to aggravate knee problems? When I was working out with my personal trainer (using these shoes) I was RIDDLED with injuries. Some of which were really bad, despite him always getting me to stretch and warm up and always making me stop if I felt even a little twinge I would feel fine, then go home and feel in agony and not be able to train for WEEKS at a time, it was really disheartening.
I went to Italy recently and was walking everywhere, for many hours, bustling around new cities, old cities, uneven ground, dramatic uphill climbing etc and never felt a problem. My feet would be sore and achey, but it was just from being on them all day. And I did not have those shoes with me.
I have never suspected them before, but now I am paranoid about them . . .
P.S, I hope this is the correct forum to put this in.
