I didn't eat all my calories yesterday...

For the first time in 10 days, I didn't get a chance to eat dinner. I had a doctor appt right after work and a rehearsal right after that. Got stuck in traffic, so didn't even have a chance to stop and grab a granola bar or something. I have been eating 1645 calories a day, but yesterday I only ate 1155. Will this screw me up much this week? Should I eat more today to "make up for the missed calories"? Or just leave it alone and continue back on track today. It's funny...I know what to do when I have eaten too much and messed up...but have no idea what to do if I have not eaten enough. lol

Thanks.

Yesterday was crazy hectic for me and I didn't even have time for dinner. I got to bed around 1AM and just had a piece of toast with some peanut butter so I got something in me. It's not a big deal. You don't need to make up for it or worry about it. Just continue, it's only one day.

Unless you're trying to gain weight, don't worry about eating more calories to make up for yesterday. Sure, it allows for you to go over, should you need, but you don't have to.

ETA: And if you are trying to gain weight? Eh - don't worry about it too much. It's only approximately 500 calories, which is 1/7 of a pound - no biggie.

Thanks. I will just continue on track as usual then. Appreciate your feedback.
  • I don't think one day is anything to worry about. I've heard that your total for the week is more important than your daily totals anyway, so you COULD balance it out by eating a little extra over the next few days.

Also, if you know what to do if you "mess up" and eat too much, then you should know what to do if you "mess up" and eat too little. What do you do when you eat too much?

If you are really hungry today, I think you should allow yourself to go over a bit. Don't feel you need to make up all the calories you missed yesterday, just satisfy your hunger!

A one off day isn't going to be a big deal. If you're extra hungry tonight, eat more. If not, you don't have to.

No! You do not have to eat those calories today. A low day here and there is not harmful. :-)
