How's my diet?

I'm currently trying to raise my calories by 100 a week until I reach around 1400-1500, my BMR is around 1400 and my TDEE is around 1772 because I'm not exercising right now. I had been eating way too little calories and now I'm fixing it so I can restart my diet again in late January/early February.

I just wanna know if I'm eating ok. Is there something I should cut out or add to my diet? What things should I start eating to raise my calories more? I'm finding it hard to even eat around 900.

Well at least you recognize that 900 calories is horrible for you. Your diet is kind of lacking. I would suggest dropping the bagels and special k and replacing them with eggs or oatmeal with some whey protein in it. Also, your protein is lacking a bit (probably needs to be around 100-130g of protein). If you want more calories, then eat smarter. Eat a lot higher calorie foods; nuts, avocado, cooking meat in EVOO, high calorie protein bars or whey protein or my personal favorite go to town on a peanut butter jar. Also, if you increase your meal frequency, that can help with getting more calories. It's training your body to eat more.

    I agree with psulemon.

Just eat things you like, only more of them.

Other good protein sources are Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, meat. Have bacon and eggs for breakfast with a slice of toast.

Tuna salad sandwich for lunch with some chips.

Chicken and rice with vegetables for dinner. Add some butter to the vegetables, or cheese.

Just eat what you like. . .depends on your tastes. Get those calories up and then worry about the quality of them. Eat!!

I totally agree with psulemon and would like to add a couple things.... You're ok with fruits and veggies but another serving or two of each a day would be better. Have a salad with your lunch or add a big handful of lettuce to your sandwich, snack on another piece of fruit, or if you go with protein shakes, add a banana and/or frozen berries when you blend it. You can also snack on nuts and seeds for good fats and a bit of protein and they are fairly high in calories but very good for you. Greek yogurt makes a great snack too.

    Thank you.
Stupid question but what nuts should I eat? I'm guessing the bags of salted or roasted nuts aren't the ones I should be eating?
I can definitely add eggs to my diet, even though I dislike them, I will make an omelette with vegetables for my dinner about 3-4 times a week.
