Want friends - Starting New Rules of Lifitng for Women

I just bought the book New Rules of Lifting for Women. It's a very interesting read - a lot of information to get through. It's hard to let go of some old notions and think like this. So I have decided to read the book cover to cover and get everything I think I'll need together and start stage 1 in January. I am looking for friends either starting at the same time or already doing it.

I have some back pay (since April 2012) coming to me and I am going to hire a personal trainer to help me make sure I am doing the exercises correctly. I don't need a bully or a cheer leader - I am motivated enough to go to the gym myself. I have degenerative disk disease and I am just really scared to hurt myself. The last time my neck went out I had trouble swallowing my own spit. So interviewing PT's right now- the last one said she as going to buy the book and would call me after she had read it (over the holidays) - thought that was a very good sign.

I would like to have some friends to share this experinece with. feel free to add me.

Namaste, Kristine

I am also planning on starting NROLFW at the 1st of the year. I really don't have too much knowledge about all the equipment, so I also hope to hire a personal trainer for a few sessions to get myself acquainted with the stuff and make sure I'm doing it with the right form as well. Can't wait to start! I'm a bit worried i'll be a weakling, haha but I'm working out on the weight machines more this month to try and get ready.

I started 2.5 weeks ago and lost 2 inches on my wasit already. It's amazing. I feel very strong. I picked it because I was never of the belief that a woman should lift less, so I like how the book is written and so far it's wonderful.

It's nice to see such a positive post on the book. Makes me even more excited to start.

I joined the group NROL4W...I plan to start weight lifting at the YWCA in January (I'm taking a class). I'm going to check out the book too. Thanks for making me aware of this!
