Shin Splints recovery need advice

I was started to jog/rub for one minute periods during my dog walk to increase my cardio. When after time i got this incredible pain in my calves. i found out it was shin splints. i did an xray to check and see if there was a fracture because the pain was so bad. It was clear, and the doctor told me to take time to recover and to modify my workouts and do some phisyo

Ive been only been walking and doing some modified cardio during my jillian micheals workouts.

I'm still having some pain in my ankles, so my question is can i wear ankle supports while jogging. I want to start slowly twice a week and then get up to five times a week. 10min of jogging/running and 20 mins walking.
