Need advice on my diet

Currently I'm on my 10th day and I have already lost 8.5 pounds. I'm on a 1350 calorie diet. The first few days of it were killer. I would get hungry but after that I rarely do get hungry. I only do when I'm approaching one of my meal times. I do get the munches but I usually eat a bananna to cure them. I do mostly live a sedentary lifestyle. On occasion I do play football, I usually do eat more on those days. I was wondering if there's any improvements that can be done to my diet. I weight lift everyday for 30 minutes and I'm usually over in sugar and protein.

You seriously lost 0.85 lbs per day? That's 6 lbs. per week, which I'm pretty sure is too high. I've been averaging around 3 pounds lost per week, and some people say that's excessive.
  • I am not to sure what your exact fitness goals are as to where you want to be and what you are trying to accomplish. When I am cutting, I shoot to lose 1/2 poud to 1 pound per week. I do this to retain muscle mass, while trying to only lose fat. I wold not worry about your protein being to high. I eat 3 times the amount it says I am supposed to by MFP. I shoot to eat 1 gram per pound of lean body mass.

That's what I think also. The way I rationalized it in my head is that I made a major change to my diet. I went from maybe 3000 to 4000 calories a day to a mere 1350. I tripled check the scale lol I was in disbelief.

What weight are you starting out at because 8 is really high. And are you sure you are getting the amount of calories you think you are? If you aren't on your feet a lot and you've lost that much weight thatt might be concerning. If that is the case you're more than likely to gain back the weight just as quickly. But if you are heavier, like really heavy and your have drastically cut back on calories it might make some sense. But still not sure .

Since your weight lifting it's ok to be over in the protein. I noticed my tracker has me getting a lot less than I'd like to actually have. The sugar you just have to watch out. I swear it's in everything in large amounts! lol I have problems with it too. Even on days I don't have any sweets! Just read labels and try to stick to natural sugars.

I used to be to be a good 177 7.6% bodyfat I'm currently at 196.5 and not sure about my percentage. That's basically what I'm aiming for again. May I've been losing muscle mass aswell?
  • IF you are losing weight that fast, there is no doubt you are losing muscle mass.

I started at 205, I'm 5'8. I'm positive I'm getting about 1400 to 1600. I'm very meticulous when it comes down to tracking my calories intake. I've been more active lightly, more on my feet tending to my baby sister and what not. Overall I feel really great. I'm more energetic and feel great about myself. If it is to much I think I would feel weaker and have fatigue.
I usually get my sugars from fruits -_-"

1400-1600 calories is too low for a 5'8" 18 year old male. Eat more. Way more.

Sounds like you're doing great to me.. the first week or so is usually water weight so 8lbs isn't surprising, especially if you started being more active with the calorie cut.
That being said the calorie cut may actually be too much for you so if you stop losing in a few weeks add 200 calories and give it a few weeks.. Just basing that off your stats tho from your profile, 18y/o M, 205 lbs @ 5'8"... You have more muscle mass than a female would and therefore typically a higher baseline for the minimum amount of calories your body needs to function. Also eating too low you may lose muscle mass closer to a 60/40 ratio vs a 90/10 with weight lifting and eating more calories. You woun't see the weight drop as fas but the inches will come off.
More than anything though, Good luck and welcome!

A bigger calorie deficit is not usually better. You may lose a lot initially but you are on a pace that is not sustainable. You will crash and end up gaining that weight back.

Do some research. It's better to lose at a slow and steady pace. You shouldn't be on a diet that leaves you hungry.
