Check out Paleo diet. Most of the foods are very low in the glycemic index.

I was type 2. Stuck to less than 50g of sugar per day and around 120g carbs pet day.. Lost 84lbs and now my blood ate clear... As though it never existed in my body. It can be turned around if your willing to make a whole lifestyle change. Typically. Low. GI foods are good... Fruit wise grapes, melon and berries. Veg wise anything green or that grows about the ground. I still had controlled portions of rice and pasta, but not much bread. Still had a treat here and there. Stuck to around 1400 calories. Also 120g protein... Worked out for me anyway... :-)

There is no such thing as a perfect Diabetic diet. Your body is going to react differently to certain foods than someone elses. If I have a dairy rich meal I can expect a spike, yet carbs do not effect me much.

high protein, low carb. Carbs are sugar. Use complex carbs instead of simple ones....for instance: brown rice instead of white rice, sweet potatoes instead of white ones, whole grains....lower glycemic index foods.
