Professional make-up lessons

Has anyone ever taken lessons with a professional make-up artist? Wondering if it is worth the expense.

    I got some great tips from one of the girls at a Sephora store. She wrote down all of the info and I felt no pressure to buy anything. I did buy a $30 tube of concealer and a mascara I liked, but once I knew my colors I went to a local CVS to buy shadow and liners to match the rest.
