Interesting. I'm not a competitor by a long shoot, but I can relate to how this relates to the average person's diet and dieting. Your body has an amazing way of knowing when you are doing something out of the ordinary, and will adjust to the changes to protect itself from serious damage to the vital organs.0

Bmp for others to see.
Interesting. See this a lot on here and experienced something like it after dieting for almost a whole year. Hit a plateau towards the end and had to drop cals down around 1500 to keep losing. Decided to eat at "maintenance" for a month and then started losing again at 1800. When I started my bulk in Sept I raised my cals up to 2300+workout and gained 3 pounds really fast but then could not gain any weight at those cals. Raised again to 2500 to start gaining again and even that has started to slow down on weight gain.0 -

Definitely don't need to be a competitor to gain some knowledge from this0 -
Bump to look at later! Thanks Chris.0

Damn I wish I could watch this right now, but I'm blocked...bumping to watch at home.
I'm actually taking a diet break as I've been going strong for about 6 months and dropped 32 Lbs or so...nothing's been happening for awhile so I just decided to go to maintenance for a month or two for a re-boot...hopefully that works...I got stuck at about 19-20% BF and just couldn't lose anymore on the deficit I was at.0 -
I think I'm going through this now. I've been at a caloric deficit, more than not, for over year. I started Dec of 2011 and lost 60 lbs in 4 months, but since then I fluctuate between the same 10 lbs, which isn't a big deal because I'm close to my ideal weight, but my gut hasn't gone down. I think I have a naturally high metabolism, so I think I'm going to raise my calories to 3000 a day and see what happens. When people say "it's all about calories in vs calories out" they should follow that up with "depending on how hot your metabolism is running". By the way Chris, awesome video!
Check out this article it's along the same lines as the video

I need to watch this later...maybe I'll get some answers to why I too have stalled.0

This is precisely why people should take diet breaks, also further asserts women to stop eating low calorie diets! Its nothing but trouble. I've been there in the past and it took a couple years to come out of that metabolic slump.0
