I weighed in this morning and was very upset to see a gain of 3 pounds. I know I didn't eat 3 lbs up this week, I even worked out an extra day. I want to contribute it to my monthlly friend but...it is hard when I am sticking to it. Ididn't even give in to a craving for greasy salty food or really sweet stuff. I am going to keep doing what I am doing. My couch 2 5K plan and eating right. I haven't measured but I am seeing results. My husband noticed I was thinning out which is good.

I have decided to write my weight on my paper copy (I keep it in the kitchen cabinet) and not enter it on MFP.
Next month I will be skipping the weekly weigh in when my friend comes to town.

I was looking at the new post and it seems women just go up the week before. So not only do we have to deal with a surge of emotions but also a weight gain . How do others deal with this monthly gain?

Sometimes I have felt a little frustrated, but I've never been emotionally upset about a gain. It's just as hard on the body to be mentally hurtful to ourselves as it is to eat bad foods. Stay consistent, you're going to see gains and you're going to see losses - it's like our retirement plans and stocks. Everything fluctuates. But as long as you stay consistent, you will over all see weight loss. Also since us women know that once a month we may see a very small rise in scale numbers, then we shouldn't be upset by this, but just accept it as is. Remember diligence and consistency will win.

I've had to really talk to myself about this. I just gain 2-3 pounds the week before. It doesn't matter what I eat or don't eat. Then I'm lower once it's over. I don't think I'd post my weight around that time either. I'm getting a hysterectomy in June. I don't know if I'll still have the problem after that or not. Anybody know?

We can all relate to this issue. I recommend staying away from the scale this week. When your monthly friend visits your body holds extra water weight to accomodate the changes your body must go through. Hang in there. Good job on your extra workout. Drink lots of water and stay away from salt and you will feel better. Watch out scale, next week will be awesome!!! :flowerforyou:
  • Thanks! It is good to know it just isn't me. I am not getting on the scale again until Feb. 28th! My friend should be good and gone by then.
