Need advice...last couple days have not been easy

I realized this evening how badly I have done over the last couple of days and I am trying to figure out how to fix it. See I live in Alaska and right now I haven't seen any daylight in 3 days. Sunrise is at 10 a.m. and sunset is at 3:30 p.m. and we're still losing daylight. Of course, I work during these hours at a job with no windows. The darkness and negative temperatures we've had for a couple of weeks has taken it's toll on me. Do any others in the same situation have advice on staying focused on their weight loss goals?

Do you take vitamin d? I find it really helps with the pesky winter blues and lack of motivation that hits every winter.

    Hello!

I used to live up in the Yukon so I totally know how you feel about the lack of sun. It really makes it hard to stay motivated when its constantly dark and cold. Do you go to a gym? I found it helped when I worked out (and know its hard to do this outside in freezing weather). I would go to the gym mon-fri after dinner for a hour or so. This would help me remain sane, to be honest, haha. It can be quite depressing when the sun goes away :(. I would make chili and other healthy freezer friendly recipes to bring to work for lunches that warmed me up. To stay motivated I would check sites like this one and other success story websites. I also worked on couch to 10km at the gym during the winter so that when the snow melted (in may/june......) I would be able to hit the pavement and trails! Having a goal for when the sun comes back could help keep you motivated. I'm not sure what your routine is but this is what helped me :)

Edit to say that I took vitamin d supplements and found that helped with my overall well being during the dark days.

I don't have the same situation. Hope you get some good advice. Here are some ideas, but I don't really know...

They have those lights that mimic daylight. I don't know if those would help.
Even if you can't do that, different lightbulbs have more or less of the spectrum in them. Perhaps you could alleviate the situation partly at work and/or home with more and brighter light? ???
There are supplements that add some of the things that your body makes with sunlight.
Simply recognizing what's causing a problem for you sometimes helps.
    Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to start taking Vitamin D and hopefully that will help. I go to the gym and workout 5 days a week. I know the 'blues' will pass. Today has been a better day.
