I'm a bit of a food snob, and would love opinions on the best canned tomatoes (crushed, diced, etc...). In your opinion, what's the best out there?

I've always used san marzano, expensive but the taste is as good as it gets.

That is actually the name I was looking for!! Someone told me before the taste was amazing, but I forgot the name. Thanks!! I'm going to find them... chemical additives or not *LOL* :flowerforyou:

I'm coming up with two different ones if I shop on Peapod:

    La Regina di San Marzano

    or

    Bella Terra Tomatoes San Marzano

I think it's the first, but do you happen to know??

I've used different brands, and yeah, La Regina is one I've used before and that's a good one. I'm a chef, living in Canada, just so you know. Canned tomatoes are one of the few ingredients (foods) that I use from processed and the only recommendation about san marzano is to make sure they're got the D.O.P. labeling which means they are real san marzano's from the correct region in Italy, it makes a difference, just like their parms and hams.
