HELP..... any help at all, please!

Well, here I sit.... I am a 75 yr old Truck Driver trying to get rid of this over-the-road weight (30lbs) and wishing I was fit and trim, but with no ambition to fulfill that wish! I am doing ok with the diet plan - I rarely go over my calorie limit; it's the exercise part I'm having trouble with. I think my bodies too old to be jumping around; but I gotta get this weight off! If anyone has any ideas of what I can/should do, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Perhaps this site would be of some assistance, but I would recommend speaking to your Doctor before beginning anything. Good luck on your journey  http://www.livestrong.com/article/402994-exercises-for-people-over-70/

You can lose weight without exercise. I would recommend strength training for body composition and bone density benefits however. Losing weight is all about creating a calorie deficit. If you have not done it before I would not suggest heavy lifting - but you can do some resistance training for example with the resistance bands. Very portable so you can even take them on the road with you if you have long trips (not do them while driving though  )

ETA: you could look at low intensity/impact exercise like walking or swimming.
  • something like a recumbent exercise bike - you can start off gently and build up slowly (just do a google search - there should be something to suit most budgets)

Hi AC1wirr, I am 71 years old and have lost a total of 23 lbs over the past three months. I swim every morning and try to do a 30 minute walk every day. I would thoroughly recommend swimming, if you can do it. Or as someone has written above, try an exercise bike and just start off gently. I didn't speak to my doctor, but perhaps you should do that if you plan to take up anything strenuous.

Just to convince you that you are NOT too old, there's a guy in the UK who has become quite famous as a 93-year old body builder. Have a look at this link:
