I totally agree with this and I havent bought gas from mobil/exxon in a very long time. I wish everyone could get on board with this but it is hard to reach that many consumers. Citgo is venezulean owned so I try to go to citgo. Or anyone other than mobil/exxon I am also glad they were forced to sell a lot of gas stations in the past few years but this still doesn't seem to be helping the consumers.

yeah, sorry, but this won't work. Even if you could find enough people to do it, OPEC sets the price of oil, not Mobil or Exxon.
And even if we could get 300 million people to not buy gas from them (not likely), there are other ways for them to make their money. No matter how much we do, the business world won't do it, and they take up as much oil and gas as consumers do.

How do you REALLY get them to lower prices? Allow the US to drill in Alaska again, and off the west coast where there are huge reserves, and build some new nuclear power plants (very clean energy that, despite it's bad press, is extremely safe and very low impact environmentally, go look it up if you don't believe me, I have already so I know). Not only would that reduce our dependance on foreign oil and force them to compete instead of being a monopoly, it would allow the US to regulate how strict the environmental impact is, create LOTS of new skilled labor jobs, bring in much needed domestic funds, and allow the us to regulate what kinds of gas and oil are created. Some environmentalists will scream at this, but until renewable energy technology gets where it needs to be (celluos fiber and wind/current power) then oil is the only feasable solution. Bash me all you want, but I have done my research on this stuff, and I have a very good understanding of carbon chain molecules (I was in chemical engineering for 3 years in college, I changed to computer science because I hated the math in chem eng.)

don't buy gas at citgo. the venezeulan oil company is a government run operation. that government is run by dictator hugo chavez, who hates america and has been on record as wanting to strangle the us economy through our dependence on foreign oil.

    i'm with banks. excellent analysis!

Thanks for the input on this. Just for the record, I don't buy gas anywhere . . . too poor to own a car so I'm dependent on the Metro bus. :ohwell: Just thought I'd put it out there. And I agree Banks made an excellent analysis. Thanks Banks.
