Slow weight loss = loss of motivation... :(

I am currently doing low carb but I feel like I am loosing motivation... in the last 3 weeks my weight loss seems to have just stopped and not seeing any results after hard work is making me loose my drive to carry on which has lead to so many fat days in the past 3 weeks eg. German market food, Domino's, high carb meals out, Chocolate days... and I was doing so well to start with....! I admit I haven't been to the gym as much as I did to start with because I have been working so much.

Any advice to kick start weight loss again? Shall I make some tweaks to my diet?

Thanks!!

how many cals are you eating a day? maybe your not eating enough? plus you are tiny to begin with, it will be a lot harder for you to get even smaller and it usually is a slower process. i know it's so not fair but that seems to be the way it goes. It took me a year to lose 20 lbs. I didn't think it was goign to be hard since i only had 20 to lose but it did. I wanted to give up so many times as i wasn't seeing results quick enough, ihit A LOT of stalls for a long time frame ( last one was 2.5 months) but i didn't and i am so happy i didn't give up b/c i wouldn't look like i do now if i did...I still don't look the way i want to but i know i look a while lot better then i did 1 year ago! maybe shake up exercise, try a new program or something. that is what i had to do this time to get things rolling again.

Thanks, I was loosing 2lb a week to start with... Now its just stopped! I think I have lost 1lb in 3-4 weeks lol... I am eating 1000-1300 per day, I don't intentionally have low calorie days when I only have 1000 its just coz I work 12 hr shifts... X
  • I have done many different diets over many different years. I've been using this calorie and fitness tracking for 5 months now and it is the most satisfying change I've ever made, and I've lost 39 lbs so far! I did low carb and lost a lot of weight one time but could not stick with it because like you I began to crave carbs and combined foods like carbs and protein together. I would suggest you try healthy eating - a combination of all foods, but control of calorie intake and remember to eat for "fuel". I think one of the biggest things to remember is that food is fuel, not just yummy. If you put non-nutritious foods in like greasy hamburgers and french fries, your body won't function as well. You are young so you can eat junk and not notice the change to your body, but I think that when we give our bodies the right fuel with lots of nutrition like lots of veggies, protein, grains, fruits and even some sweets, we feel more satisfied and can stick with our diet plan. I am thrilled for you that you're taking care of a few pounds instead of just ignoring them. I think you'll triumph over it....remember why you wanted to start in the first place AND you are probably having trouble sticking with the low carb diet because your body wants/needs other things too. I'm gonna check back....I hope you keep going, you CAN do it!!!

how tall are you? loosing 2 lbs a week was a lot and i bet that is why you stopped. I think you will either need to eat a bit more to kick start it again or you will have to change up exercises... i have never lost more then 1.5 lbs a month and now it's more like .5 a month :( but i'll still take it.... i agree with what the other person said and maybe just try eating healthier and not focus so much on low carb. I started out at 1200 cals a day and i eat 1400-1600 now, i ALWAYS eat my exercise cals back as well...

    I am 5'2.

I am going to stop low carb till after xmas, change my macro's and eat healthy balanced diet with calorie limit of 1300 per day with exercise... because realistically I am not going to be able to do low carb over Christmas and seeing the red numbers everyday will depress me! Hopefully when I start up on low carb again after Christmas it will kick start my weight loss again as it seems to have slowed almost to a stand still.... What do you guys think?

Any reccomendations on macro's for healthy balanced diet for weight loss! I have no idea on any diets except low carb or none at all lol?

You look thin, you've lost 11 pounds, and two pounds a week is a huge amount for anyone who doesn't need to lose 100 pounds.

Commit yourself to a straightforward 'eat what I want and stick to my calorie limit' diet of half a pound a week. It will work better over a year in getting off and keeping off any weight you need.

    Chocolate days don't help anyone.

Chocolate Days are sometimes essential for the safety of those surrounding you, though.

    OP have you seen these?

This is what worked for me: Google your daily calorie goal and healthy menu suggestions will pop up. Study several to wrap your head around what your meals should look like. As an ounce of prevention, start logging your actual meals ahead of eating them so that you can tweak your macros to a healthy, sustainable level.

i'm also 5.2 ft and i don't think you are eating enough...
  • I agree with other posters. Realistically you should expect to lose about .5 lb a week if you have less than 10 lbs to lose.

    Personally, 40/30/30 works for me.

The closer you are to goal, the slower the loss will be - this is normal. Especially if you are already at a healthy weight - which you are. At this point, you may feel like you need to lose more because you are unhappy with your body composition. It's not the weight you want to lose, really - it's more that you want to change the shape. This will take some time, and strength training.

You most likely are not eating enough and you have hit your first wall and your metab is going into famine mode.

    Read this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12

If you know your current body fat, use this: http://www.cordianet.com/calculator.htm

1200 calorie diets are the worst if you are exercising. EAT! Even if it's handfuls of Almonds (2oz = 320 calories and keeps your mind sharp)

As for macros... 30% carbs, 40% protein, 30% fat is a good basic ratio.

I hit a wall for 2-3 weeks as well, did my numbers and I was eating 750 cals too little. Bumped up to 2200 and bam, lost 4 pounds in 3 days (not water weight either)

If you are exercising regularly your body needs fuel. A car doesn't run on empty. Your body will instinctively shut down your metabolism if it isn't getting enough fuel and you are asking it to do lots of work. That's just the way it works. Run your numbers and try eating the recommended calories for a week and see what happens. Don't freak out if you gain a pound either.

    Hope this helps.
