Miso soup is a Japanese broth soup made from miso paste and usually includes tofu, green onions, seaweed and sometimes mushrooms, onion, potatoes, seafood and daikon mixed with dashi (fish) broth.

Miso paste is a fermented (usually) soy bean paste that is high in protein and rich in vitamins and minerals while being relatively low calorie. It has been told to me that it is also very good for digestion. However, if you are tracking your sodium you may want to be careful with how much miso you have.

I am currently living in Japan and miso soup is very common here. Also, I think it is delicious and it is a nice start to a meal!

Clearspring Miso soup with 'sea vegetables' (UK brand) is about 49 cals per sachet, and you can have it as a cup or bowl soup - really nice, but can taste quite salty. great stuff!

i have started having this for morning tea but was worried about the high sodium content.
