Great topic! Well, first of all - don't look at your lifestyle as a 'diet' as such... otherwise, you'll feel restricted and then super guilty if/when you indulge in some goodies.
Being in Australia, our Xmas holidays are in peak summer heat, so it's important to aim for 50-100% more water than your normal intake. This will also assist with your cravings when you see all the naughty foods in your path.
So long as you keep up with your workouts and limit your portion sizes as you normally would, then the actual foods you choose to eat (even high calorie options) won't seem so bad.
Make yourself an agreement each day and then take each day as it comes. It's a TREAT time of year, so allow yourself some happiness in that respect. My last piece of advice is the '2kg rule' (around 4lbs). If you step on the scales and you weight that much more than your current weight, then it's time to be a little bit more restrictive unti you're back down to it.
That's my 2 cents worth anyway. Happy holidays to all!

I take into account how many calories/how much sugar is in the treat. It's easy to lose track of what you eat during parties, so always keep a note of it in your head. Don't deprive yourself, but do it in moderation. Also it's the holidays, treat yourself.
However, if you really want to avoid temptation all together I suggest going for the healthy options and substitute wine with water. When I feel like binging, I picture how far I've come and how far I have yet to go and it usually subsides it.

I have managed to make it through Halloween and Thanksgiving, plus attending one of the big BBQ championship events in the country and I have managed to stay very clean so far. Frankly, if I were approaching this loss the way I used to, still eating some starches, drinking some wine, I would find it harder to manage and keep in limits. Having made a decision to eat very clean and seeing the benefits clearly helps me "be good" through the holiday season, including parties and holiday dinners.
Will I miss alcohol? The candies and lovely treats I usually ate at Christmas? Yep. But I love the progress I've made more than I love eating a whole loaf of panettone with imported butter.
Of course, if I had already reached my goal by now, then I'd be back to trying to manage things I don't allow now.... ask me again NEXT Christmas! LOL0 -
I plan on eating within my calorie goals everyday this holiday season except 2 key cheat days. This means I will probably up my exercise burns on some days when I want to have a treat or an extra tasty adult beverage or something.
Now my 2 cheat days will be the family Christmas party and Christmas day. I have been doing really well ever since I started back in April and don't really do cheat days on a regular basis so I figure I won't be hurting myself too badly.
I had a cheat day (where I don't log and eat anything I want in moderation) for Thanksgiving and still lost for that week. For my 2 holiday cheat days I fully expect to maintain weight that week and will not be disappointing with no loss. I deserve a little break and I think doing it this way fits perfectly into my "lifestyle change." Picking out a few holidays or key days a year to not over analyze or stress is important for me. And I have learned that it works.0 -
I am in maintenance ... I am being a little bit more lax during the holidays (eating low calorie most days and allowing myself cheat days/meals hear or there). I am also very active. Through Thanksgiving & Halloween and so far in December this has worked well for me. I have not gained so far, I've actually lost another pound somehow. Of course maintenance is different from actually trying to lose weight but figured I'd add my perspective Part of keeping my diet manageable is allowing myself to live and eat freely on occasion.0

I did good on thanksgiving! What I did was pre-logged everything I'd be eating for the meal and then worked the rest of my day around that. It was so so easy to stay within my calorie goal. It may be harder to do if you're going to a christmas party or someone elses house for a dinner though. Just keep how you feel in mind, if you're ok with one cheat day don't even worry about logging, or log the best you can. If you're like me and you tend to feel guilty about going over your calorie goal then log everything right before you eat!0
