veggie smoothie ideas

Please share any recipe ideas you have for a vegtable smoothie. I really want to get more veggies into my diet and into my kids diet as well.

Of course i want to learn ways to add different types of veggies and different ways to make them taste decent. So any advice and recipe would help. Please feel free to share.

Thank you very much.

Well this one is a mixture of veggies and fruit

    2 tbsp of hemp seeds
    1 cup of water
    1banana
    1/2 cup chopped kale
    1/2 cup chopped collard
    1/2 cup chopped spinach
    Handful of parsley
2 tbsp fresh or dry mint
    1 tbsp maple syrup/raw honey
    1 Juice of a lime

Blend until smooth. Sip, then enjoy

I find if you make a fruit smoothie - maybe with a shot of protein powder to keep you full - and then add a bit of avocado and a handful of spinach does the trick - also, if you add a banana the flavor is usually hidden - and if you add frozen blueberries its less likely to look green (if the kids would be freaked out)

another way to do it might be mangoes, apples, and carrot juice, with yogurt and ice? (never tried this one but it could work)

though i have to say my favorite smoothie doesn't have veggies in it....

    1 cup frozen blueberries
    1 small banana
    1/2 cup O.J.
    1/2 almond milk
    1/4 cup - 1/2 plain greek yogurt
and a tablespoon of almond butter (it is way better than peanut butter)
    protein powder is optional

soOoOo good! but i'm sure you could add some veggies though

One thing I do to help with veggies in my smoothies is use V8 Fusion juice. Its more veggie than fruit. Don't know the exact ratio, but its 100% juice and gives 2 servings of fruits and veggies per serving of juice.

dont eat after 8 o clock

and mostly, don't listen to bad advice from teenagers that love fad diets.

the "don't eat after 8" myth is a bag full of garbage.
  • I work graveyard so not eating after 8 is absolutly not relevent. However it does not matter as that is not the premise of this thread.

I like the v8 or v8 fusion idea. For some reason i forgot about that stuff.

Keep throwing the ideas out there peoples, good stuff so far.

    Thanks.

I bought a Ninja blender for the kitchen a month or so ago and it came with 2 individual size blender cups as well as the full pitcher blender. What I like to do is fill the cup halfway up with different frozen fruits, usually half strawberry the other half either pineapple or mango, all frozen. A small handful of spinach, then v8 fusion to the fill line. Since the fruit is frozen, there is no need for ice, and if you have a good blender, it will break it down until its super smooth. The best part is the entire smoothie is usually under 200 calories and there is no filler. Its 100% fruit and veggie.
