Apparently, being surrounded by testosterone makes it worse, so stay around women as much as you can.

(This is something my dh believes to be true).

On the genetics front, your mother's father is meant to be the one you follow after, so my brother got unlucky and started losing in his 20s, but my son should be sorted if he follows after my dad, who has more hair than my brother

Its more DHT in the scalp due to higher levels of testosterone in the body e.g. baldies have higher natural levels of manliness

Tell you friend he's lucky to be living in 2012, when bald is cool.
I don't want to be cool bad enough to shave my hair, but if I ever start to lose it I'm sure not gonna sweat it.

How about that over-the-counter medication for hair loss? They have it for women now. (It does work).

    Just remembered the name: Rogaine

The best way to prevent male pattern baldness is to take estrogen and testosterone-blockers. You'll stop the hair loss AND get boobs!

Repeating advice given to someone who was contemplating a hair transplant....
"Why attempt to grow tame hair on your head when it grows wild on your *kitten*?"

Best advice is buy clippers and under no circumstances attempt a comb-over.

Men can pull off shaving their head, but that look does not work so much for women.

I have found and use supplement called Shen Min. It is made in women and man's formulas. You must take it at least 3 months to start seeing difference. It works well. Best prices I have found on http://www.vitacost.com/shenmin

When you see the reasoning behind MPB and why it cannot currently be prevented (down to DHT, Prostaglandin and the PGD2 receptor which is the main problem implicated in MPB) I'd advise everyone currently to save money and shave. Simple as that.

Be happy you're losing what's on top of your head instead of what's in it
