Hello everyone, a friend invited me here, so I thought I would give it a go, iv never dieted or counted calories before, I've made a start by going swimming, and also a meal tracker which is useful as I would like to know exactly what I am eating, ideally I would like to lose a stone and keep it off as I'm stopping smoking in the new year and everytime I have stopped smoking iv piled the weight on, so any tips would be great,

Grab yourself some friends for support (feel free to add me if you like). Make small steps. Do too much too soon and it is all to easy to give up. Start simple, and it sounds like you are, and add as you go. Some people seem to gain a bit when they quit smoking and others do not. Hope you are one that does not. You don't really need to count calories, although by logging you really are, so much as thinking about quality food choices. Good luck on your journey!0

Every diet plan is unique to the individual. It is your personal will that will be the most important in my opinion. However, we are all here to support our community. Feel free to add me if you wish.0

Hi there! Former smoker. I quit in April 2011 and while it was a struggle and I did gain a little weight, it was totally worth it in the end. Are you planning on quitting cold turkey?

Hey there. There are definitely some very helpful people here. There are also people who can get kind of nasty, but just ignore them haha.
Hope you have a good experience here! I have never been a smoker so I can't say much on that side of things. Advice I have is track what you would normally eat for at least three days before you start making changes to your diet. It gives you a could representation of where you are so you can see which direction you need to start heading in.
Also, weights AND cardio, not just cardio!0 -
