Fitbit Zip

I just bought a cute little green fitbit zip :3 and I was wondering if I should wear it while I'm sleeping? I know the Ultra and the One measure your sleeping patterns, but I could care less about that because I already know I sleep like crap. haha. Plus I'm a poor college student.

I was just curious what you guys do.

Personally I'd either return it or throw it away. Those things are useless and way off. Pedometers are seriously useless.

I don't think the zip records sleep.
  • Haven't tried the zip but my ultra was accurate, more so than most. I didnt wear it to bed because unless ur planning on going to a sleep therapist, you already know ur sleep pattern sucks so you'll only end up searching the sheets for it in the morning.

I've had the original one for about 3 years and they replaced it last spring when it cracked (THE best customer service ever) But I keep mine with me all the time. 24/6... yeah - i sometimes forget it but mostly 24/7... I don't sleep good either and tracked it a time or two and confirmed what i already knew. I don't sleep. I"m kinda taking a break for a few weeks but will start tracking a lot better soon. I love my fitbit - its a great little pocket coach.

I've got a regular Fitbit and I don't think it's useless. It seems pretty accurate...it syncs with my MFP account and gives me extra calories and I'm still losing weight. It may not be perfect, but it's consistent. I like using mine for sleep. I find it interesting to see the sleep patterns.

I have the ultra, and for awhile I was sleeping with it but after seeing the same thing night after night (i.e., the same pattern) I eventually just left it charging overnight. BUt I try to wear it ALL the time.... if I'm close to a milestone for the day I push myself a little more. So it helps me be more active.

I have the zip and I LOVE it! Ignore the lame *kitten* that think they are cute by being smart. You made a good investment if you ask me. I wear it to bed only because I get up really early with my daughter and I would forget to put it on otherwise. I also get up off and on during the night for drinks of water, so I guess I burn a little more lol. But it does not track sleep patterns. Definitely link it to MFP such a great little app!

This! I love my fitbit ultra. It's super accurate, and I've lost nearly 22lb with it...19 of those since sync'ing with mfp. I need to see those numbers. I also wear it to bed, but that's just because I, too, like to see the patterns.
  • Haha, thanks!

And ContingencyPlan dude, you're a party pooper :P

But yeah, my cals are all whack today anyway because I got it half way through the day and wanted to sync it asap haha

wear it to bed even though it does not track sleep so you can still track your steps in the middle of night (bathroom, water, etc). Also it is a reminder to move. I have had my ultra for almost a year now and love it! I feel naked when I forget it.

I wouldn't wear the zip while sleeping seeing as it doesn't monitor sleep and it isn't meant to wear while sleeping.
