I am looking for a vehicle under $10,000 but with good gas mileage. I REALLY want this suburban one of the local dealers has here, but the gas sucks. I need 4 door. Any suggestions?

It would be nice if you could provide more info. Do you want a luxury ride, or just an eco car? Do you know how to work on the car? Are you good with maintenancing the car? Do you ride it hard or easy? V6 or I4? Do you drive in a hilly community? Do you need AWD, bigger cargo room, etc? Auto or Shift?

Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla is a good start if you just need an eco car with four doors.

I bought my first Honda Civic brand new in 2000. I sold it with 240,000 miles on it. The only issue I ever had with it was the replacing the distributor cap at 180,000 miles. Needless to day, I would recommend the Civic or the Accord (which I own now).

I live in Florida. Its flat. Just need something for me & my daughter. Basically an eco car. I do ride hard b/c of the people in south fla. The OLD people. Don't know how to work on it. I do know how to change a tire, and if someone showed me 1 time how to change the oil I could do it on my own. And Auto or Man is fine. I can drive both, pref auto though.

Finding a used Civic or Corolla for a decent price without a ton of miles can be hard. They're so popular they tend to carry a higher price used. Don't be afraid to check out Scion.

OK.. I also live in South Florida and I also drive a Suburban.
I get 12.9 MPG.
It sucks.
You can probably pick up a used Crown Victoria for pretty cheap.
Although it is a V8 engine, it does not get forrible gas mileage.
Being a RWD makes it easier to work on and, being a Ford makes parts cheap.
It is a full size American car so it is fairly safe around the morons down here.
Also the larger size makes carrying baby crap much easier.
It is as comfortable as any vehicle you will ever drive.

Honda Civic/accord and Toyota Camry/Corolla will do the job (less than $8k easily). You'll have some money left over as you will need to spend to do little work on the used car, as to replace timing belt, fuel fliter, air filters, new set of tires, alignment, wheel balance, flush all fluids, new brake pads, spark plugs, etc; then you will be good for another 60k miles.

Get a Subaru, I had one that lasted me more than 303,000 miles. I learned how to work on my car by myself, used it for automotive classes. The Automotive Classes were easy....

i got my my little 07 saturn ion back in july for my birthday(happy birthday to me) with 50,001 miles on it ( it now has like 70,000 miles on it,lol) and paymentit gets like amazing gas milage! recently,i went from my house three hours south to Sulphur then to houston and back home on a tank and a 1/4th of gas . the askin price was 12,000 with a 3000 down and some fine negotiation skills and a trade in on my death trap on wheels ,i only had to finance 8,000 somethin plus interest and i didnt even have credit. i went to a volume car dealer and they have special banks that will help with getting people loans if they have no credit if thats your situation.. you just have to talk to someone...

but girl, if i coulda got it,i woulda gotta a chevy cruze, great gas milage, roomy back seat, big trunk.. super cute.
