If you mean H. Pylori, and you have an ulcer, see a doctor. They'll fix you right up.
It's thought that most peoples digestive systems harbour heliobactor and are asymptomatic.

I had H pylori this summer....and gained 30 lbs. Its awful. Whatever you do, stay the EFF off of Prilosec. it will blow you up. Take Zantac instead on an as needed basis. The double dose of antibiotics was torture to my stomach, the prilosec kept me super bloated and I gained that weight in like 2 months. I did research on a more holistic approach, and I now take aloe vera juice every morning and every night to heal the damage H pylori did to my stomach....after it was so called eradicated I was left with terrible GERD. I believe that was also from those antibiotics completely depleting my stomach. I also take a potent probiotic each morning on an empty stomach and digestive enzymes with my meals. Its a lot but I'd rather do that than take any of these questionable pharmaceuticals, especially with horrible side effects like weight gain and chronic fatigue. Also I've heard Mastic Gum is good for getting rid of H pylori naturally (if you still have it). Just make sure after treatment you go back and have them do a breath or stool test to make sure its really gone. Blood tests can give false reads. Good luck!

Go to the Dr and get an antibiotic. Simple fix will have you back to normal.

I had H. Pylori and it really messed up my digestive tract. Doctor put me on 2 antibiotics and 2 antacids to combat the disease and I lost a few pounds due to lack of appetite. But now I have to take fiber gummies once a day and eat a Fiber One Brownie daily because the disease caused my digestive tract to react badly (lots of stomach spasms) and I wound up getting IBS and polyps (which were removed).

Now I have stomach spasms after eating sometimes (I have a muscle relaxer for that) and combination IBS. It does make it hard for me to stick to a diet because I am still on an antacid and other meds. I would suggest that you keep going to a doctor until it is figure out because it can get bad, not always but there are always complications.

Thanks for the information, I was given a weeks course of antibiotics of metronidazole and clarithromycin together with taking omeprazole, which made me feel awful, the last few days were the worst because where the problem was coming out I suffered terrible mouth thrush, which as you can imagine is really dis-heartening.

However now that the problem has cleared up I have noticed that the bloating has gone down considerably and I have lost nearly 5lbs, but been left with heartburn, which I hope will disappear in time.

So I guess it would be a good idea to take probiotic yogurt and the moment to replace the good bacteria that have been killed off?

Zantac can NOT be substituted for Prilosec in this case. To the OP, if prilosec is prescribed and you do have weight gain, please discuss any potential medication changes with your doctor.

Yogurt is always a good idea if you're taking an antibiotic. A good probiotic tablet could be used as well. I hate metronidazole (flagyl) because of the taste. That nasty metallic flavor just lingered in my mouth...blech! I think it tends to make everyone feel awful.

Heartburn sucks, dairy does help with that too, but you might want to mention to your doctor that you are still dealing with that while taking the omeprazole. I hope you feel better soon.

I took Omeprozole (Prilosec) during the eradication stage, and then into the healing or recovery. With the weight gain and extreme bloating, my doctor tapered me off of prilosec (at my request) over a month's time and then told me to take Zantac on an as needed basis. So I'm simply sharing what worked for me. Obviously the OP should talk to their doctor first just like I did. And for me, Zantac has been more effective than I ever really felt Prilosec was.
