For those who have been maintaining for a while...

.....how long did it take for your brain to catch up with your body, or are you still waiting for that to happen?

I've been below my goal weight and still doing a little work for a while now but I can honestly say that my brain has just not caught up with my size. In my head, I'm still heavy. I *know* that I'm not because of the sizes I buy, the foods I eat and what photos say but...... well, you know. The inner fat girl still hangs out.

Thoughts? Has anyone actually had their brain match up to their body yet?

  • I haven't been maintaining, but I'm only losing .5-1lb a month now so close enough. I still have days where I feel fat even though I was always been a healthy weight. When you're going through the weight loss process, you tend to pay more attention to every little bit of fat on your body so you're more likely to notice something small and make a big deal out of it. I'm technically 8-9lbs underweight, but I still feel fat sometimes. I found that focusing on lifting and strength training helped me with this a lot. Plus, muscles look pretty.

I've been maintaining since June. Some days I look in the mirror and say "crap, I'm thin", then others I say "I didn't remember that roll there yesterday". It's so hard not to look at yourself and see the fat person you were, and I technically wasn't fat at 180 in January, still a 25 BMI. Now I'm a 20.5 and I still have days where I think I could afford to lose more, but I know that's silly and that I'm really healthy and fit where I am.
