What Vehicle would you recommend?

So last week I got into an accident and wrote off my 03 Sunfire. Now, my boyfriend and I are looking to get an SUV. We decided an SUV because we have a very large dog and in the future we do see ourselves having children. Where we live, it is a must to have 4WD on your vehicles for at least 8 months of the year.

So my question is, what do my MFPers recommend as vehicles. We are looking new or used but no older than 2010. I have gone on consumer reports, and I still am not sure what to get.

    Subaru, they have AWD or 4x4 depending on their models. I had two Subarus that had high mileage on them. One of them is in the Subaru High Mileage club.... My last Subie helped me with passing my automotive classes.... Sigh, I miss snowwheeling and mudding through a friend's long muddy driveway...
