Leangains/IF what is the advantage??

Hey all,
I've been trying to do the leangains program for about a week. I've read through their "myths" here is my question. There info seems to say that there is nothing wrong with have 2-3 large meals a day instead of 6 small meals spread out... fine..
But is there an advantage to eating few small meals and not eating for 16 hours at a time? I may have missed it but I didn't see the driving reason to do it that way? I would think the info that argues you can eat 2-3 and be just as healthy as 5-7 is the exact same argument as to why 2-3 is not any better for you than 5-7?
Am I missing something?
