I know you want to see changes quickly, but please snap out of that and come to the realization that this has to be a slow process filled with changes you can maintain permanently. 1 year sounds about right to be at your goal, then you must maintain, and that isn't easy either. So make little changes...Do you not exercise? If not get a gym membership or fit some type of activity in your life. I went from moving as little as possible, to working out 4-5 days a week for 45mins to an hour. Once your in the habit you'll feel weird NOT working out. Change what you put in your coffee, stop drinking soda, juice and booze. Log EVERY single thing you put in your mouth, from butter on your toast to sugar in your tea. EVERYTHING. Stay within your daily calories. Make friends on here with similar goals and motivate each other. Get the junk food out of your house. You can still have these things when you REALLY want them, AS LONG AS IT FITS IN YOUR CALORIES. Watch out for carbs, protein, fat, sugar and sodium too. MFP helps you with all of that. In my opinion calories are most important, everything else is just a goal I try to accomplish (staying under my carbs for the day, getting enough protein......blah blah)0

You don't need to "jumpstart" it, just start it. If it looks like a jumpstart, you're probably looking at a loss of water weight.
You just need to start with eating fewer calories than you burn overall in a day. Calorie counting helps you do that - MFP is a great way to count calories. It sounds obvious, but it really works. If you're eating too much, cut back a little, and if you're not exercising, get some exercise. My personal take on it is: don't be too extreme; don't make such radical changes that you can't sustain them long-term. Keep eating what you like, just not too much. Find exercise that you enjoy doing. Stop looking for quick fixes, expect it to take a long time, and just take it a step at a time.
Take progress photos, take measurements, read the success stories, consider whether strength training might be something you would benefit from. Stop trying "every diet on the market" - there's a reason the weight-loss industry is so lucrative. Calorie counting works. Make small, sustainable, but significant changes to your lifestyle, and reap the rewards. :flowerforyou:0 -
Just make a commitment to log your food daily and make good choices. Then after you got that commitment down start moving more. Its that simple. No the weight won't fall off......sigh. But you will get there. Didn't take 2 months to gain all that weight, going to take what it takes to get it off. I haven't lost much at all and was moaning the fact the other night, realized. Hey I weigh what I weighted 3 years ago! And it only took me 3 months! So its going in the right direction. Its a journey and a lifestyle change, not a 'diet'.0

It is good to surround yourself with people who have healthy habits ...it will inspire you and their habits will rub off on you too ! If you don't know anyone in particular...just picture someone famous you admire and just realize that their success in their health can be easily achieved by you ....as long as you persist ! consistency is key...trust me !0

calories in < calories out = weight loss
Weight loss is 100% diet. You will lose weight if you burn more than you lose. Exercise will help you burn more and determine what you will look like when you lose the weight but it's still 100% diet.0 -
