i am pretty new to this site, however i've been watching what i eat and doing my exercise for just over a month and i'm just wondering if it is normal to feel ashamed when you have a calorie overage for the day? i get so worried and i feel so bad after i do.

i think its happened to me twice, but everytime it did, i thought i was going to gain weight.
how can i keep myself from thinking so negative? it is alright to have calorie overages every ONCE in a while,... right?

Don't feel bad, just move on. One day at a time, do the best you can

yes its okay to go a little over every once i a while just as long as you dont make a habit of it and dont completely destroy your goal and go way over

It's completely fine!! Don't worry about it! You literally have to overeat your TDEE (which you probably eat lower than) by 3500 calories to gain one single pound! If you see a weight increase on the scale it could be from a number of things (water retention, ect.) Don't let it bother you, but if you really get upset THAT much then go for a quick walk and burn off what you went over by but honestly, would not worry about it unless your doing it every day! Hope this helps!

I'll go over on purpose every now and then and sometimes I'll just not log anything I eat...this keeps it so I'm not obsessive about it.

I'm here to get healthy, not trade one problem for another one.

No? That's not normal. If you intend on keeping weight off for the rest of your life you're going to have to accept the fact that you can't be perfect all the time, unless you are looking to be miserable.

Everything in moderation... even "calorie overage days"! It's unrealistic to think you will eat within your calorie range, every day for the rest of your life
  • Don't beat yourself up over it , i do it every now and then more so then often -_- but i try to turn in it in a positive like the more calories i eat the more I can push myself at the gym,I do and i feel awsomer after it. You can also eat more fruits and veggies because that will fill you up fast which will make you stop eating more.

I upped my calorie goal by 20 the other day when I went over by 3, I didn't want to be in the red.
I have been slowly upping my calories anyway so I am going to keep them, yum.
You are young maybe your calorie goal is too low.
  • I'm not exactly there yet, but I am 40+lbs down and... I have had maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany days where I went over my calorie allowance, and I can bet each member on this site has gone over at some point. It's nothing to beat yourself up over, just pick yourself up and carry on =)
