Hey there I was hoping I could get some advice. I'm having difficulty with getting lower than 209lbs. I've lost 13lbs so far and I need to get to 154lbs but I think I've hit a plateau.

I excersise up to 5-6 days a week mostly dance central and some zumba, I eat 1380 calories a day and I don't eat my excersise calories because my body type is the kind that gains weight very quickly. I've also been advised by two fitness instructors that eating excersise calories isn't ethical for most, especially for people like me -_-...joy.

You can look through my diary, there are I think maybe a day or two missing but they are generally similar to my other days.

My boyfriend told me that losing weight in the winter is very difficult, something about sweat not being able to come out during this season when working out.

Is it true that it's harder to lose weight in winter? if so, what can I do to push through my plateau.

I think your boyfriend is trying to make you feel better. Trust me, you can sweat in the winter, outside even, when it is sub zero temps. Many years of working on the railroad have taught me this.

I thought that was a bit wierd but what can I do to get past plateaus? like I said eating excersise calories is a big NO for me it's impossible for me to lose weight eating them back because it simply doesn't work, I've tried.

1380 caloires and not eating back you excersice calories. I would guess your not eating enough! You burn alot of calories doing Zumba so I'm guessing that would put you below 1000 calories. Your body needs more! I had to up my calories and the weight started coming off again.

Try to replace half your white rice with green vegetables for dinner. And in winter, we tend to burn more because of the cold, you might want to up calories by 50 - 100 with vegetables and fruits. I've been experimenting on this couple to 2 weeks and my weight started to drop. And you definitely can work out till drenched in winter, just that it dries up faster, so take care, you might not notice it, but definitely need more water in winter as its dry.

lol yep that's what they told me. But they're not saying for everyone, they asked me if I'm the type of person who can gain weight eating 2000 calories and sadly I am :(

I tried eating back my calories for 2 months at the beginning of this year before I gave up midway this year. I lost 14lbs at that point and I wasn't losing anymore, so I tried eating my excersise calories, it worked for about 2 weeks and then it stopped for about 2 months. I got frustrated and gave up.

But I tried again in october and I have lost 13lbs and again the weight loss has stopped again. It's so frustrating because it seems the only way I can lose weight is eating way too little but I gave up on all that and I'm trying to be normal..so I'm quite annoyed lol

it is interesting that you posted this thread...I just had a conversation with the trainer at the gym about his same subject. I was kinda moaning about the scale being mean, and I haven't hardly lost anything in 4 months ( like 1 lb a month, if that) after doing really well for months ( 19 pounds in 4 months). He brought up that it is harder to lose weight in the winter--not just because of holiday treats. We both decided that it is because our bodies go into kind of a 'cold weather mode' and try to hold on to nutrients for the winter when foraging for food is more difficult. Think of Bears preparing for their winter hibernation...

You dont know what you are doing and the fitness instructors were wrong.

PS you gained when you ate above 1300 for a reason.
Stick through it and youll lose once your hormones catch up and regulate.
Thats called water weight and its normal.

You have 2 problems with your diet.

    1) you dont eat enough for "your body type"
    2) you exercise too much for your caloric consumption

I've seen it 100s of times and fixed it 100s of times.
Learn how to eat then learn how to work out and you will lose the fat.
Continue what you are doing and you will not.

Feel free to PM me your stats and I can help you along but its going to be a hard pill to swallow.
Well...at this point it looks like most stuff is hard to swallow but we can fix that!
    =D

    PM your:

    Age
    Height in inches
    Weight in pounds
Body fat% <---most important! If you dont know it then you are dieting wrong!
    Occupation
    Workout routine

Plateaus are normal especially when you get closer to your goal weight. Sweating is just water weight anyway. However; with that much exercise, I would shake it up a little and so some different things. Try some longer workouts like running or cycling. Work the strength training in twice a week. Nothing heavy, just run the circuit at the gym, or do push up and lunges at home. Try intervals, try an aerobic work out DVD. The longer we are in a routine, the more the body seems to remember and stop progressing.

You'll hear a lot about eating, not eating, eating more, eating less... switch up your week drastically. Keep an eye on the food scale, and for some, even up the protein and carbs if they are extremely different.

You could try this for a few weeks,as i believe your body is now in a rut and needs to be jump started to burn that fat. For two weeks do the eat, fast eat. after supper on the eat day nothing but lots of water until supper on your fast day. Make that supper 600 to 700 calories. You do not burn muscle to survive but straight to fat. Then go back to the intense exercising.Don't exercise on the fast days more than 25 minutes. I forget the book but if you google eat, fat, eat, you will see it is safe. Also lots of explanations on u-tube how this detoxes the body. I have lost 13 pounds and 15 inches in 9 weeks doing this and feel great. Just eat right when your eating.
