Home remedies for an ear ache?

Not sure which category this one should go under...but I have an ear ache and a swollen lymph node, both on my right side. I'm sure it's probably a mild ear infection.
I know the best thing would be to go to the Dr., but my boss is very strict about taking time off and I don't want them to know that I'm sick. I spent a few days sick with a neck injury earlier this year so I can't really afford to miss any more work.
Anyone know of something I could pick up over the counter to help?
