Gym Weight Room Question

I posted this in a group discussion for NROLFW but have yet to receive any responses so maybe someone else could help me.
I am unsure of doing the workout at the gym because of needing to use a step with dumbbells and a ball for some of the moves, do you bring these items into the weight room?? I don't think the dumbbells are allowed out of the weight room, except for the barbie ones lol!! So how do you do this and just keep the rest to 60 seconds? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am really clueless and don't want to step on any toes or make the gym mad at me.

  • I would and have. I guess it depends on how your gym is setup but if you're worried about the looks you'll get from people, they'll get over it. I've done some crazy stuff in there but the most important thing to remember is that you're there for YOU and not how others will perceive you.

Be respectful and try to scoot off to the side if you can but do your thing. You pay the same $ as everyone else. Just don't be inconsiderate and use common sense and you'll be fine!

I'm doing NROLFW right now (just about done with stage 3).
And....my weight room has steps that stay there that I use for the step ups. You could also use a bench to step up on. The gym I go to only has 1 of those aerobic steps and it's almost always being used, so...I do without (ex. deadlift from box...I just do deadlift).
As for the excersizes on a ball....my gym as a room where they offer classes and people stretch and do ab work. The yoga balls are in there. I'll usually bring whatever weights I need from the weight room into the room with the yoga balls....I'm not the only one, so I assume it's not a problem ;)

Yep! I don't really feel like bouncing all over the gym when the workout calls for planks in between cable rows....so, I just drop down right in front of the cable row machine and do my planks there as long as the area isn't too crowded. I've never had anyone give me a second glance (as far as I can tell)

if your unsure of the gym rules as to whether it's better to take the ball and step out or vice versa, ask someone who works at the gym. otherwise i would take the weights into the room with the other two. Just put the weights back when your done with them.

Yeah, this one. At my gym people do both, but speaking as someone who wants to use the weights too, I'd rather you brought the ball in than disappear with the dumbbells that I need for 20 minutes.
