Pre workout drinks while breastfeeding.

Does anyone know of a pre workout drink/powder that is safe to take while nursing?
Thanks in advance =)

Definitely not something you want advice about around here? Have you seen some of these threads? Ask a health care professional.

I don't know the answers for YOU, but when the question came up for me, the breast feeding nutritionist said that a balanced drink, such as a carnation instant breakfast, ensure, (or pediasure, they taste better) or that line of drinks was better than a protein drink, because it is a more balanced nutrition, and what you put in you, you give to your baby. My kids are teens, they might know more and different things about nutrition drinks and breastfeeding than they used to, as breastfeeding has grown in popularity, therefor likely has more support and research.

It takes about 500 calories a day to make breastmilk, so whatever you're doing, diet and exercise wise, that needs to be figured in.

Kefir or a yogurt drink are good. As the other poster said, Ensure or Carnation Instant Breakfast drink would be good as well. As a recovery from a workout try to have a carbohydrate, protein and vitamins within an hour after you eat. This can be accomplished through a drink or by eating a nutrient rich meal or snack and getting your nutrients from real food instead of a synthetic drink. I prefer to get mine from a snack. Remember to drink LOTS of water. When my supply starts to lower it is usually from not having enough water.
