Welcome aboard. It has worked for me... Even though I am near my initial goal, I find logging helps keep me focused. after attaining my ultimate goal, maintenance will be a key.0

Only two things required for success here: commitment and patience. Like in the story of the hare and the tortoise, slow and steady wins the day. Recording (accurately) your daily food intake will tend to keep you honest. Some regular exercise is mandatory, to keep your metabolism up. Remember, it takes time, and progress is not always smooth. If little setbacks are disturbing, just weigh only once a week, or only once every two weeks, and count any loss a victory. In the end, real success comes from changing old habits, and developing new ones. The large community here is rooting for you.0

Thanks everyone for the tips.
I plan on making this a lifestyle change, I want to lose 40lbs the right way (through hard work, exercising and eating right. And I'm hoping that healthy living can ward off some of my genetic predispositions too (fingers crossed).0
