When life gets in the way...

This week has been crazy. Work has been crazy busy. Add to that two days of cake baking/decorating, Christmas shopping last night, getting my hair done tonight....something tells me I may need to wake up early to fit in a real workout. Ugh!! I feel awful about missing becaues I roped my older sister and my next door neighbor into workouts with me. They've kept up with it even though I've been absent this week.

How does everyone stay motivated when life starts to get in the way? It seems like it would be really easy to say "I'm too busy, I can't exercise this week."

But I'm not ready to admit defeat!! lol I just need to figure out how to make this work.

It's tough, believe me, I know. I work full time and have a 7 and 8 year old who have lots of activities and such. For me, I had to adopt a mind set that workouts are not optional. They are in the same category as showering, brushing teeth, cooking dinner, etc. Sure, you might have to rearrange when you get your workout in, or do a workout video at home instead of your regularly scheduled workout when life gets hectic, but you still have to do it.

Really, you can get in a decent workout in 30 minutes, so unless you're sick or injured, there's really no excuse not to do it. You wouldn't skip showering for a week because you're too busy, would you? lol

I agree with this!!! I work full time and have a 6 year old and a husband who works out of town a lot, so I become a single mom a lot during the week. I have made my lunch hour my work out time, I generally go for a run 3 days a week at lunch try to walk the other two and i lift weights at home a couple of nights also...you can do it, it is really just a matter of prioritizing and saying this is not an option...it is just part of who I am and what i do :)

That's why I'm at the gym by 5am everyday. If I don't go in the morning, there's no telling if I'll ever get there after work.

This just blew my mind a little! lol I don't know why I never thought to put it in the same category and showering, etc.

Btw, is that a Tardis? :)

Life can really get in the way for everyone! Most of the time it is horribly difficult to fit in exercise, let alone during the holidays. On a usual day I work 8 hours, go visit my horse (hopefully), go to class and then go to the gym at night very late only to wake up very early to do it again. I think the key is to give yourself proper rest days, really keep on top of your healthy eating to stay motivated and just plain old dragging your butt to the gym :)
