What are your favorite books?
I just decided before the year is over I will read all the books on my bookshelf that I have never read. I picked one yesterday and I'm about 40 pages away from being done. Only 4 more books to go!

Have you read Bared to You and Reflected in You by Sylvia Day? Very similar to Fifty Shades and also very hard to put down. The Kelly Favor books are a little more timid than those two series' but are still pretty good. There are 12 books in that series but they're all pretty short and quick to read.
  • The Baroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson

    The Passage by Justin Cronin
    The Twelve by Justin Cronin

The Prodigal God by Tim Keller

I'm a big Stephen King fan. I know not everyone is, but I've got most of his books on my Kindle.

If anyone is on Goodreads, you can check out my Library.

I LOVED that series. I have heard about the other series that is like Fifty Shades but from reading the back of the book I feel like it's TOO much like it and I won't enjoy it.

"The Hiding Place" by Corrie Ten Boom

"The Book Thief" By Markus Zusak

"The Jacket (Star Rover)" by Jack London

The Narnia series, esp "The Silver Chair" by C.S. Lewis

Please for the love of GOD do not attempt to read those books. Never in my life have I experienced more uncomfortably awkward, trite, forced, uneducated or just plain BAD writing in my life. And don't get me started on how the characters are awkward, forced, unconvincing, and completely underdeveloped. This is not an exaggeration. I'll repeat it: This is not an exaggeration! There are plenty of WELL-written romance novels out there that will get your nethers warm without groaning and repeatedly rolling your eyes over how GOD AWFUL those books are.

I HATE typical romance novels. They make me wanna stab my eyeballs out. I loved fifty shades because it was weird and different. You may think they are "god awful" but I personally loved it. Romance novels on the other hand are terrible and I can't read them even if I tried.

LOL, I will admit the writing was poor but Fifty Shades was a fun read for me. I got through all three books fairly quickly and I thought it was a quick and fun read. I never took it seriously. Plus I can't stand romance novels so I liked them.

well i am kind of addicted to books
    but nothing wrong with that!

Fifty shades of grey though... well they could not warm me up even a bit, but to everyone their own choices!

Some of my favorite writers are Lara Adrian, Elizabeth Amber and Kerrelyn sparks.

As for my "still need to read list": Game of thrones, hunger games and kerstin gier (not sure if the last one writes only in german!)

AH, books, such wonder in them. When I was little my parents use to ground me from reading instead of tv because they knew that would cause me the most torture. I don't know how many times I was put in detention in school for reading instead of listening in class or doing my work. Oh well, screw them I still love books.
HUGE Stephen King fan. I have read pretty much everything he has published. I also am in love with biographical histories. My favorite book of all time is Nicholas and Alexandra by Robert K Massie, about the fall of the Romanov empire. UGH SO GOOD. I actually found it for ten cents collecting dust in a church basement.

I have always been a die hard Harry Potter reader. I grew up on that stuff:love:

I haven't really gotten much into bestsellers lists... Mostly I just ravage my town library for anything that sounds interesting. I would read ketchup packet labels if it came in a book to be honest! :blushing:

I am looking for some series to get into if anyone has suggestions!

  • I love to read! I will read just about anything I can get my hands on. I just finished Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn ~ great read. My goal for the year was to read 50 books and I've already gone over that. So my 2013 goal is to read 100 books.

I'm on Goodreads if anyone is on there ~ I'm always open to suggestions for new reads. =)
