Hello all,
I'm looking for a book which details the chemical reactions involved with eating fat, protein, carbs etc. I throw around words like MCT's and insulin sensitivity without really knowing what the heck I'm talking about.
I want to become more knowledgeable about WHY regular fat is good, and why trans fat is bad, and understand how all these macro and micronutrients affect my body.
Does anyone know of a book or website like that? I've read Primal Blueprint which sparked my desire to learn more about these interactions. Haha should I just re-read it and try to retain more information?
Can anyone help!? I don't even know what to search for on Amazon, or Google. My searches for "books on nutrition" are bringing up a bunch of irrelevant crap.

Pick up Jillian Michaels' Master Your Metabolism and read it cover to cover. A ton of information on nutirents, balancing your hormones for the best weight loss/weight maintenance and foods to enjoy and avoid. I lost 30 pounds after reading it and taking many of the chapters to heart. Good luck!0

Purchase a proper degree level clinical nutrition/ dietetics textbook from one of the medical publishing houses, a text that references its assertions with published studies within the actual paragraphs. If you want science you need to be very careful about which commercial diet books you buy, many are based on half truths and pseudoscience. I've skimmed through some absolutely cringeworthy unscientific claptrap or one sided information in popular diet books.

I found the Men' Health 1,001 Muscles Meals book. They detail all of that stuff clearly and in depth while at the same time keeping it short and sweet.0

First off, skip ALL celebrity/diet books. They ALL have an angle and present selective science (if any). Go with a nutrition textbook. Exercise physiology textbooks are pretty helpful too, in that they go in to more detail about how nutrition and exercise interact.0

I would read the stickies on bodybuilding.com nutrition forum section and/ or any threads started by mods. There you will learn more than you can ever hope for from a single book.0
