I personally don't give a flying fig what OTHER people think. I use what WORKS FOR ME. Though I don't take ACV for weight loss. I find it helps my appetite (for those times when I'm craving everything!) and it does help keep me from getting colds and such and it gives me lots of energy. I can tell if I don't take it in the morning before I go to work. I'm tired and slow and feel sluggish. But if I remember to take it I feel refreshed and energized. :)

I just take two tablespoons with probably equal amount of water, suck it back with a straw real fast then take a big gulp of water. I use apple juice instead of water if I have some in the house and that really helps mellow the flavour but I don't usually have AJ around...

I don't care what anyone thinks about it either. Both my daughter and husband are coughing and have sore throats. I feel great. Yay ACV. I pour a shot glass and down the hatch.

Why do so many here have to act like they KNOW everything? It is so annoying.

I don't deny the validity, of x food burns fat, and y food makes you store fat...but in the end these numbers are so small, it really doesn't matter...Diet and exercise.

I have about 2 TBSP in 8 oz of water everynight, and chug it. I take it before bed and brush my teeth right after taking it.
It works for me, and others here find it beneficial as well.
If it doesn't appeal to you, or you think it is quackery or ridiculous, fine, don't use it, but kindly keep your citicisim about other people's use of it to yourselves. It is low calorie, and you may just be wrong in your opinion of any benefit gained from its use.

That's fine. Take it if you want but this is a food and nutrition forum. Some people will challenge you if you make a claim something does something without compelling evidence.
One of my favourite lines from The Simpsons is when Lisa tries to explain specious reasoning to Homer. To paraphrase she says, "Do you see this rock? It keeps tigers away...You don't see any tigers around here do you?"
So on a public forum, if you make a claim of efficacy, be prepared to back it up with more than personal anecdotes or you may be challenged.
As far as talking it for stomach problems, I've heard/read that taking any weak acid like concentrated lemon juice or vinegar can act as a proton pump inhibitor. It may well act in that regard for some.

And also be prepared for people to ignore your compelling evidence if they just feel in their gut that something isn't right. Because their inherent "horse sense" of biochemistry is much more compelling to than peer-reviewed science.

Acetic acid (AcOH), a main component of vinegar, recently was found to suppress body fat accumulation in animal studies. Hence we investigated the effects of vinegar intake on the reduction of body fat mass in obese Japanese in a double-blind trial. The subjects were randomly assigned to three groups of similar body weight, body mass index (BMI), and waist circumference. During the 12-week treatment period, the subjects in each group ingested 500 ml daily of a beverage containing either 15 ml of vinegar (750 mg AcOH), 30 ml of vinegar (1,500 mg AcOH), or 0 ml of vinegar (0 mg AcOH, placebo). Body weight, BMI, visceral fat area, waist circumference, and serum triglyceride levels were significantly lower in both vinegar intake groups than in the placebo group. In conclusion, daily intake of vinegar might be useful in the prevention of metabolic syndrome by reducing obesity.

Thank you. That is interesting and worth following up. I'll have a look at that study.

Looks like that study used 30 ml max daily on obese Japanese. The loss was 2-4 pounds which was regained after ceasing the intake. Still, I'm willing to admit there may be a mechanism at work which deserves further study.

I concede that there is no substitute for a caloric deficit and exercise and I think that's everyone's point here. I didn't lose my weight drinking vinegar, that's for damned sure, and no amount of vinegar would slide a big mac through my system undigested. I just get irked when the same disdain that a cabbage soup diet rightly deserves is heaped on an active area of research into unknowns.

I'm not at all surprised that the subjects gained the weight back . . . there is no substitute for diet and exercise! Liposuction provides instant drastic results but if those folks don't fix their stuff, they'll be in the same place in five years' time.

I drink Braggs ACV straight from a shot glass before each meal. It has helped with regulating insulin.

I do know one lady that swears by Braggs ACV and she said she didn't change her eating or exercise and has lost 40 pounds. She is a diabetic, so I am sure that has something to do with it.

The raw ACV has many benefits from immune boosting capabilities to healing a sore throat when gargled. It has can also be used topically for skin irritations and much, much more.

It is a fermented food. Fermented foods have many, many benefits.

I take it for recurrent UTIs, it was also cure one if you take with baking soda (also helps with constipation)
