Okay. 2 1/2 weeks untill the new year and I've gained back the 20 lbs I lost earlier this year. None of my clothes fit and I feel disgusted with myself. I hate waking up in the morning because ive let myself get back to where I said I never would again. Should I kick it into gear now, with cookies and all the holiday treats coming up in the next two weeks...Or should I wait till after new years and really kick it in the butt?

Start now. Cookies/treats will always be there.0

Weight comes off fast in the beginning, so you could lose 5-6 pounds plus before the start of the new year. Start NOW. No waiting til Monday or January first. You'll reach your goal that much earlier.0

kick it into gear now and have said treats in moderation (: You'll feel better if you start now0

I think you're missing the entire point. Weight loss is not about being "on" or "off" your "diet." It's a continuous thing. So start now, learn how to deal with holidays, one bad day isn't going to kill you, or even a bad week. What matters is if you're in a calorie deficit over the long term, not day by day. Start now, enjoy the holiday, and get back on track.
I don't know why people feel they must stuff themselves on certain occasions, they don't. You can eat normally with out stuffing your face. If you want to stuff your face go ahead, but obviously don't do it everyday.
I don't mean diet. I know it's not a diet, it is a life style change. And I don't stuff my face, it's just in my mind right now that if i eat a cookie i ruined my day. I have to get that out of my head and stop thinking like that.0 -
Ok so you've gone a few steps backwards. What's stopping you going forward and achieving more than ever? Start again, turn it around. Don't obsess over the little things, just keep in mind what and where you wanna be and how happy it will make you... start to feel a bit of that happiness now and keep going until you get there :-)0

I see me in your future. What I mean by that is your mindset is the one I had all through my 20s, then all through my 30s, and then all through my 40s. I am now 54 and when I look back - I see you. I have yo yo dieted my whole life. Lose 40 lbs. Go back to eating "normally" and gain it back plus a few more. I've done this more times than I can remember.
What changed? I finally listened and really heard the advice of people who are successful. This is not a diet. This has to be your life. You have to eat right. You have to eat the right proportions. You have to exercise - a little cardio, but mostly you have to lift heavy. This is not something that you start and stop when the mood strikes or for a special occasion or when your jeans don't fit anymore. This is your life.
I am in a very giving spirit this morning so here is a gift for you. I hope you accept it If you do? This time next year you will not be posting this "ugh" on MFP. You will be a success story.
