These carbs are killing me

I looooovvveee carbs. So much. I'm a carb-a-holic. The problem is I'm craving it all the time and I don't know what to do to replace it but get the satisfaction gone. I used to be able to pick up a piece of bread and chow down on it. Now, I won't. So what should I do?

    Nothing wrong with carbs!

If you want to cut down and love bread or pasta tell yourself you can have it at one meal a day. If you deny yourself something you will binge on it at some point in the future.

I found it was best to treat it like an addiction, and work through the withdrawals until I got to the point where I didn't crave them as badly anymore (and it DOES happen). I've been doing low carb for the past 8 months, and it's been hard, but I no longer crave them like I used to. I started very low at 20 a day, then went up to 40, and now I'm between 40-55. Once I reach my goal weight (which is 6 pounds away), I'll top out at 100 carbs a day. It's been a life changing experience for me. I eat a LOT of vegetables now, and I'm loving it. All that bread and pasta was just filling me up and keeping me from eating the healthier stuff. Try eating more low carb veggies like salads, zucchini, broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, peppers and green beans. And keep your protein up with lean meat and low fat dairy. It's what worked for me. :-)

Eat carbs in moderation like everything else. Problem solved.

Satisfaction (taste hunger/taste wise) is secondary to your goals. Cravings are simply hormonal responses to neurotixins being released. If you've hit your daily intake for carbs. Simple answer is to stop eating carbs.

What's wrong with carbs?! I looked at your diary for the past week and you didn't go over one day. I don't understand?

Cravings can be a sign your blood sugar is spiking and dropping or a nutrient deficiency or both: work on balancing your blood sugar levels instead of quitting carbs. You are eating a fair bit of sugar and junk food, even your fruits are the sugary ones yet I see very little vegetables. Aim to keep processed junk to no more than 10% of daily calories - that is one small snack per day. Given that certain starches turn to sugar in the body very quickly - known as high Glycaemic Index - I suspect you are on a sugar rollercoaster all day.

Eat lean protein, healthy fats and fibre at each meal and snack, choose low GI carbs (low sugar fruits like berries/ barley/ beans/ lentils), avoid or limit sugar/ white refined carbs/ high GI carbs (most processed wheat, white potatoes, corn), have small portions little and often through the day instead of binging, east more non starchy vegetables and less sugary fruits.

Chow down on a piece of bread, log it, and move on....
