There you are then! Most women gain (temporarily) in the week before a period. Can be anything from a pound or so to 7lbs or more. Keep on doing all the healthy things (eating sensibly, exercising) and you'll get rid of it over the next 10 days or so, it's water retention. Ignore the scale if it depresses you and weigh again in a couple of weeks.0

I gain 6-7 pounds the week before my period. It's perfectly normal.
You can help by reducing sodium and drinking a lot of water, but it's probably there to stay until the week of or after your period. My weight loss always stalls for two weeks every month (*grumble*) because I gain one week and then spend the next week losing that water weight. It's so unfair that I can only post a loss 2-3 weeks out of every month, but that's why hormones are a nightmare. At least I know it's water and not fat.0 -

Nothing to worry about then I gain about 3 pounds.0 -
It'll come back off next week. No worries.0

Everyone else said this already but I'll just reinforce it. It's water retention due to being near that time of the month. Very normal and nothing at all to worry about!0

Try tracking your weight on a calendar and only comparing weight from month to month at the same point in your cycle. You'll notice the pattern and it will reduce your stress when you see the scale increase.0

THANKYOU everyone you have made me feel much better

In addition to hormonal fluctuations, you can also see sudden gains on the scale after you've consumed more sodium than usual, or more carbs than usual. Simply consuming more food/drink than usual can have an effect, even if calorie intake is the same, and if you start a new exercise programme, or suddenly increase the intensity of exercise, your muscles will retain water as they repair themselves. It's all just a reminder that the scale is measuring a lot more than just your fat.0
